My co-worker was excoriated by his boss for poor performance.  It only made him more sneaky in looking for ways to blame others.

You may see my baubles as gimcracks, but to me they are priceless.

The Dowager Countess would rather be caught dead in anything other than a soigne ensemble, complete with perfect hair and accessories.

My boss gave me the day off as a sop for working so many hours last week.

The little girl was chapfallen when she realized that life wasn’t fair and things don’t always work out.

I feel immured in my job.  No amount of work will be enough to make up for the laziness of my co-workers.

of, relating to, or characteristic of a wife

The word uxorial seems to assume there are universal characteristics of a wife.  As if!

Word of the Day: Quodlibet

Since receiving a Word A Day Calendar, I’ve decided to write a short something including my new word each day.

quodlibet

1 :  a philosophical or theological point proposed for disputation; also :  a disputation on such a point

2 :  a whimsical combination of familiar melodies or texts

I’d say many of Donald Trump’s positions were quodlibets, but I don’t think he cares as much about debate as about noise.

Since receiving a Word A Day Calendar, I’ve decided to write a short something including my new word each day.

Promethean

of, relating to, or resembling Prometheus, his experiences, or his art; especially :  daringly original or creative

The start up failed, despite a promethean effort.  It’s ideas were perhaps ahead of it’s time.
